45 Days Out: Preparing for Your
Royal Caribbean Cruise
Ben and I are getting closer to our much-anticipated Utopia of the Seas cruise, and with 45 days to go, it’s time to dive into the next phase of our planning and preparation. Here’s a guide to help you get ready for your Royal Caribbean adventure, ensuring a smooth and romantic journey.
1. Download the Cruise Line App
Your first step in preparing is to download the Royal Caribbean app. This handy tool contains ways to view and book all the onboard activities and shows, dining reservations, and even your daily itinerary. Plus, it’s a great way to stay updated with changes or announcements during your cruise. Finally, it allows you to use your phone to check-in for your cruise.
2. Check-In and Pick Your Arrival Time
At the 45-day mark, you can check in for your cruise and select your arrival time. Ben and I always aim for the earliest time slot to maximize our first day on board. This step also includes uploading all necessary documents, so make sure everything is correct. We also print out our boarding passes and other essential documents in case of any technology issues.
3. Finalize Your Excursion Plans
If you haven’t already booked your shore excursions, now is the perfect time to do so. We love researching our ports of call and choosing adventures that bring us closer together, like snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean or exploring ancient ruins. Pre-booking your excursions ensures you get a spot in popular activities, avoids last-minute stress, and helps you plan your budget.
4. Create a Packing List
Ben and I start drafting our packing list around this time. It’s a great way to ensure we don’t forget anything essential. We check our luggage to see if anything needs to be replaced or added. For instance, are our bathing suits still in good condition? Do we need new travel-sized toiletries? Having a list helps us stay organized and stress-free. And don’t forget special items for any excursions!

As the days draw closer, we love building the anticipation with a pre-cruise countdown. Whether it’s planning a themed dinner or watching travel documentaries about our destinations, these little moments help us get into the vacation spirit.
